The action-horror game is Sony’s fastest-selling release this generation as it breaks physical sales records in the UK to become the biggest launch of the year.
The Last of Us 2 is already breaking sales records, as early retail data from the UK shows Naughty Dog’s PS4 exclusive has already jumped to the top of the country’s boxed charts. , narrowly beating the opening week of 2016’s Uncharted 4 by just over 1%. Download sales are not included in this data, so when we factor in digital sales, it’s possible the game’s launch was even bigger!!!
The sequel is now the fastest-selling PlayStation game of this generation. The chart below shows the GfK Top Ten for the week ending June 20th
Last Week | This Week | Title |
---|---|---|
New Entry | 1 | The Last of Us Part 2 |
2 | 2 | Ring Fit Adventure |
3 | 3 | FIFA 20 |
1 | 4 | Mario Kart 8: Deluxe |
6 | 5 | Call of Duty: Modern Warfare |
4 | 6 | Grand Theft Auto 5 |
7 | 7 | Minecraft (Switch) |
9 | 8 | 51 Worldwide Games |
15 | 9 | Pokémon Shield |
14 | 10 | Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order |
However, this data does not show the digital sales of The Last of Us 2, which are sure to be even higher given that game retail stores around the world are either shut down or operating on an extremely limited basis as a result of COVID-19 lockdown measures. The sales will surely go higher in the months of July but the sales charts will be much interesting to look at when its competitor game launches in the form of Ghost of Tsushima.
None of the words can better explain than the eye visualization of the game itself about how refined and brilliant the game is designed. This graphic in itself is the win-win for this sequel, leaving every other factor out.
