With so much games introducing Battle Royale mode, Worms is not staying put
Admit it, we have all played Worms at some point in our lives.
This is the first real-time Worms ever. Team 17 Digital Ltd announced a new Worms game called Worms Rumble, which is a “real-time, arena-based 32 player action shooter”. The description they announced for the game is a hybrid of both new and old Worms: “Get ready to rumble in Deathmatch or Last Worm Standing modes where you’re only ever a Holy Hand Grenade away from death!”
The Battle Royale type Last Man Standing mode is the new feature whereas the Deathmatch is extremely familiar to all old and new Worms players. The announcement trailer gave enough excitement to the Worms players as it offers a lot of new horizons and modes to discover.
The trailer highlights various aspects of the game modes including the multiplayer shooting in a 2.5D environment, chaotic battlefields, wall-jumping, bullets spraying, and little pink earthworms that are extremely customizable and a lot more. Worms Rumble’s deathmatch is probably the usual mode, but judging by the Steam description and various tags “Last Worm Standing” is some kind of a Battle Royale mode. It is an exciting addition to the game since the last game Worms WMD was a traditional turned base artillery game.
It was also pointed out that the trailer does not feature any destructible terrain, which is quite a special feature of Worms since the games started producing. The studio was quick to that each and every level in the game does have some specific terrain which is destructible. It varies from map to map what can be destroyed or not.
The Steam page description adopted a motto that says “This is Worms, reinvented”, although it would soon be found out to be true or not. You can find out more on the Worms Rumble website, and sign up for the closed beta version of the game. Worms Rumble is expected to be released in 2020.
