Dune delayed to October 2021 by officials
October 2021 is the next date proposed by officials for its release.
Before this news, Dune was going to release on December 18, of this year but due to the threat of deadly pandemic COVID-19, it has been pushing forward to 1 October 2021. Interestingly enough, Dune is going to release on the same date as the release of the famous game Batman. I think this going to be intense competition among both rival games. This is a serious bummer for all of us Dune Heads out there, as Villeneuve’s take seems poised to loyally honor Frank Herbert’s masterpiece while boasting a star-studded cast including Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, and Stellan Skarsgård.
It is unsurprising that Dune has been delayed, however. As we recently reported, No Time to Die was pushed forward again to April 2021 because of the same COVID-19. And with Cineworld’s Regal Cinemas temporarily closing all of its centers across all over America, the movie business is taking a serious hit. Big-budget films like Dune and No Time to Die simply can’t imagine dragging a profit when we’re still uncomfortable going to the theater.
But among all of it, there is one good news out of this now we have plenty of time to read all eight Dune books and become a professional on all things sandworm, Kwisatz Haderach, Bene Gesserit, and more. It also means you have more time to work on that Baron Harkonnen costume.
